Civita Park Wins Eighth Major Design Award
Civita Park recently won its eighth major industry award when the American Society of Landscape Designers (ASLA) presented an Honor Award for park design to Schmidt Design Group, the landscape architect for the 14.3-acre community park at the heart of Sudberry Properties’ community of Civita.
The judges commented: “This very recognizable signature project tells a story and is an important community asset. It does an excellent job of taking a large site and breaking it down into defined areas that offer a variety of experiences and a high level of interest.”
Civita Park features numerous terraced amenity sites including a central plaza with a custom amphitheater, community gardens, a dog park, two children’s play areas, game areas, and many public-art features. A “Mining Relic Garden” and interpretive signage link visitors to the site’s history as a sand and gravel quarry.
Additional awards include:
Two Orchid Awards – The San Diego Architectural Foundation, 2020 and 2017;
