California Crossings Honored by CoStar as 2024 ‘Commercial Development of the Year’

California Crossings, a two-building industrial/distribution facility in Otay Mesa, has been named the Commercial Development of the Year in San Diego County in CoStar’s 2024 Impact Awards.

The 449,680-square-foot California Crossings project is among the largest properties developed recently to meet the burgeoning demand for industrial space tied to fast deliveries.

Approximately 200,000 square feet has been leased to Amazon and negotiations are underway with other potential tenants.  Judges praised developer Sudberry Properties’ quick preleasing to Amazon and the project’s prime location in the cross-border region. California Crossings is one mile from the Otay Mesa Land Port of Entry, the busiest commercial port in California.

One of the judges, Christopher Sohaey, managing principal at MMC Real Estate Holdings, said local industrial developments such as California Crossings provide crucial support for bi-national trade and logistics.

CoStar's Impact Awards highlight the commercial real estate transactions and projects that have transformed their markets over the past year. Independent panels of industry professionals choose the winners.
